Without doubt, one of the most scenic marathon in the country. For more information about the area in which the race starts, see Alnmouth visitor information.
From Alnmouth Beach along a scenic coastal path passing Boulmer, Craster, Dunstanburgh Castle (see English Heritage and National Trust) and Low Newton Sands, the marathon takes you up to Long Nanny Bridge, where after a short run on the beach the course returns to Alnmouth along the same route. The half marathon follows the same route to Craster then returns back to Alnmouth.
"Brilliant event had a great day thanks."
"Thank you to you, and your team for the run on Sunday. The organisation, marshalls and other support was all top notch and appreciated by me. I particularly enjoyed the beer after! And I can't think that I've ever done a more scenic run. The North East is definitely the best as far as I am concerned."
"Well done all a great race fantastic views."
"Bloody hard mind, really bloody hard with all those beaches, but stunning beautiful scenery and really friendly."
